Overview
(ARR. BARSHAI)
Prelude and Scherzo, Op. 11
Bursting onto the stage with a unique blend of spirited and propulsive energy, the Australian Chamber Orchestra—Richard Tognetti's "badass classical band" (TimeOut New York)—dynamically reflects its country's adventurous and enquiring spirit. The ACO virtually redefines chamber music, displaying a unique sense of vitality and virtuosity. In a nod to past traditions, only the cellists are seated—the resulting sense of energy and individuality is one of the most commented-upon elements of an ACO concert experience. They return to Cal Performances following their dynamic 2011 appearance at Ojai North! with Dawn Upshaw.
