First Stage For Families, The Oakland Folkharmonic, February 24, 2013

These lively one-hour events in Wheeler Auditorium offer young people and their grownups an opportunity to experience a diverse range of artistry in an intimate space.

This double bill features the lively and infectious music of the Oakland Folkharmonic—a new five piece string ensemble lead by fiddlers Shira Kammen and Kaila Flexer—and power duo Teslim, with Flexer and multi-string instrumentalist Gari Hegedus. Clap and sing along, and explore the sounds (and fascinating instruments!) of Greece, Turkey, and the Middle East, from medieval tunes to present-day compositions.

Please note: All children, regardless of age, must have a ticket to enter the theater.
