New Orleans trumpeter Irvin Mayfield returns with his Grammy-winning 18-piece band to deliver soulful and swinging testimony about that great city's rich musical heritage and thriving present. Mayfield's "clarion intonation and relaxed power" (New York Times) is the rallying cry for his sizzling orchestra, mixing original compositions and old favorites. An ambassador for his hometown as well as an esteemed bandleader, Mayfield has been a driving force in New Orleans' cultural renewal in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
