Overview

The Creative Traditional Orchestra of Korea's National Gugak Center begins its two-concert Berkeley residency (concert two event page) with the world premieres of newly commissioned works by an international cohort of contemporary composers: Berkeley music professor Edmund Campion, Shih-Hui Chen of Rice University, George Lewis of Columbia University, David Evan Jones and Hi Kyung Kim of UC Santa Cruz, Chinary Ung of UC San Diego, and the esteemed Korean composer Geon Yong Lee. Each will contribute new repertoire for this very special collaboration between Western composers and the world's leading Korean music orchestra.

In association with the Pacific Rim Music Festival at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Korean National Gugak Center Creative Traditional Orchestra concerts are supported, in part, by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Korea.
