Graham's mezzo-soprano is a voice without regrets, healthy, rounded, ineffably musical, and eager for a challenge.

The New Yorker

Recital
Susan Graham, mezzo-soprano
Malcolm Martineau, piano

A true season highlight! Susan Graham's recital appearances are rare and precious events, since the mezzo-soprano is often crisscrossing the globe to sing major roles in the world's great opera houses. Here, with longtime collaborator Malcolm Martineau, Graham explores more intimate, delicate repertoire than her operatic roles allow. The program includes two exquisite song cycles—Mahler's Rückert-Lieder and Berlioz' Les nuits d'été—that showcase her stunning ability to conjure a vast emotional and poetic terrain, along with songs by Handel, Mozart, and Hahn. "Her combination of sophistication and sincerity, flexibility and secure core, is perfect" (The New York Times).

Approximate run time of this performance is 1 hour and 30 minutes, including intermission
