The exciting next-generation period-instrument ensemble Twelfth Night makes its Berkeley debut with a lively Italian-themed concert. Founded by violinist Rachell Ellen Wong and harpsichordist David Belkovski (who made their Cal Performances debuts with cellist Coleman Itzkoff during the 2022–23 season), the group has been praised for its “sensitivity and virtuosity” and “impeccable playing” (New York Classical Review).
The program features the fiery, compelling virtuosity of Twelfth Night in instrumental and vocal works from across the (mostly) Italian Baroque, including Handel’s cantata Armida Abbandonata and selections from the opera Agrippina and the cantata Aminta e Fillide as well as overtures, sonatas, and concertos by Vivaldi, Telemann, Fasch, and Durante.
