Jazara Metcalf

Group Leader Mentor

Jazara Metcalf (San Francisco, CA) is a multidisciplinary artist and educator with more than 20 years of dance and theater experience. A proud UC Berkeley graduate in marine science and theater and performance studies, she thrives at the intersection of art and science, driven by the power of storytelling to inform, inspire, and transform. Metcalf has trained in various dance styles, developing discipline and creative expression from an early age, and has regularly attended performances by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at Zellerbach Hall, experience that has greatly influenced her evolution as a dancer. Her commitment to enriching education through creative expression has led to work with the California Academy of Sciences, the African American Shakespeare Company, and the LoveLife Foundation, where she has developed and led youth and public programming. This is Metcalf’s third year working with Berkeley/Oakland AileyCamp.
