Cal Performances Visual Identity

As of April 28, 2026, we’re thrilled to unveil a fresh look and feel that captures the energy, vibrancy, and excitement of the performing arts we present on our stages!

Our new visual identity does not indicate a change in who Cal Performances is or our programming; but rather, reflects the work we’ve been doing for 120 years, the growth we’ve experienced over recent decades, and the dynamic community you’ve helped us build. It is our hope that this new design will translate the joy of attending a live performance to the widest possible audience.

FAQs

After 120 years of performances—and more than 20 years with our same logo and design aesthetic—we needed a fresh look and feel that better reflects the Cal Performances experience today. As our audiences know, Cal Performances is home to the world’s most exciting performing artists. We’re thrilled to have visual identity that can better communicate the vibrancy and sense of adventure you experience on our stages.

This refresh represents a lasting change, and is not tied to any specific season. Though unveiled alongside our 2026–27 season programming, the new visual style was created to celebrate the organization’s full legacy, while at the same time giving us space to grow and evolve in the future.

Our vision and programming are not changing. We are grateful for support that has enabled Cal Performances to thrive across the wide variety of performances and education initiatives we currently produce. This update ensures our visual presence matches the quality, ambition, and relevance of the work you experience on our stages, in our venues, and out in the community.

The logo you will now see alongside our name reflects the C and P of “Cal” and “Performances,” respectively—as well as, for those who want to dig a little deeper, the interaction between the audience and the stage.

Within our new style, we’ve defined a color palette that is broad enough to enable creativity and flexibility, while still specific enough that you can tell communications are coming from Cal Performances at just a glance. We’ve focused on warmer colors for multiple reasons, chief of which is that they’re shown to be the best option for expressing energy and excitement—which is exactly what our audiences love about attending our performances!
