Danny Lubin-Laden is a trombonist, composer, and educator living in Berkeley, his hometown. He is an alumnus of Berkeley High School and has toured internationally with its Jazz Ensemble. Lubin-Laden studied trombone at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York with Art Baron, Alan Ferber, Tyshawn Sorey Lee Konitz, Ambrose Akinmusere, and many others. He returned to the Bay Area 10 years ago and currently teaches trombone at Berkeley High. Danny performs regularly with, among others, the Marcus Shelby Orchestra, Scott Amendola, Ben Goldberg, The Electric Squeezebox Orches­tra, and Johnny Talbot. He has put out multiple records that are featured on Bandcamp. His own compositions set jazz improvisation within ambient soundscapes. Lubin-Laden currently performs with a trio, the Sticklerphonics, in­cluding at SF Jazz, where he also has played trombone in performances by Soweto Kinch.
