David Bergman
David Bergman is an award-winning composer, video and sound designer for theater, dance, opera, installation, and film. His theater credits include video design for the ground-breaking Sydney Theatre Company productions of Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and The Picture of Dorian Gray, for which he won a Sydney Theatre Award for Best Stage Design of a Mainstage Production, and which toured to London’s West End, winning two Olivier Awards in 2024.
Bergman designed video for Opera Australia and Victorian Opera’s acclaimed production of Idomeneo, which was presented by San Francisco Opera in 2025. Other video design projects in 2024 include Opera Conference’s production of Rusalka (West Australian Opera, Opera Australia, State Opera of South Australia, and Queensland Opera); The Australian Ballet’s Oscar; Dear Evan Hansen, produced by Michael Cassell Group; and the dance collaboration between Sydney Theatre Company and Bangarra Dance Theatre, Kulka.
