Dr. Wei Cheng

Dr. Wei Cheng is Director of the Choral Program and Associate Professor of Teaching at UC Berkeley’s Department of Music, overseeing the Chamber Chorus, University Chorus, and Vocal Program. Recognized for her contributions, she holds the Virginia Chan Lew Distinguished Professorship (2023–28). Originally from Beijing, she earned her master’s and doctoral degrees in choral conducting from the University of Cincinnati.

A recipient of the American Prize’s Dale Warland Conducting Award, Dr. Cheng is an accomplished performer, educator, and clinician. Her choirs have toured internationally, collaborating with ensembles like the Munich Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonia Orchestra.
