Kara Dugan

Mezzo Soprano Kara Dugan has been praised by the New York Times for her “vocal warmth and rich character.” Her career ranges from chamber music recitals at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum to the recent world premiere of Loren Loiacano’s Feathers from the Old Manse with the Albany Symphony. Performance highlights include recitals with the New York Festival of Song, Festival Napa Valley, and the American Ballet Theater production of Christopher Wheeldon and Joby Talbot’s Like Water for Chocolate at the Metropolitan Opera. She performed the world premiere of Michael Tilson Thomas’ Four Preludes on Playthings of the Wind, with a later performance of the work at Carnegie Hall. Dugan has sung with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, and the San Francisco Symphony. She is an inaugural recipient of WQXR’s Artist Propulsion Lab and received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Juilliard School.
