SHELLEY NICOLE

SHELLEY NICOLE | she/her is a trans­formational healer using the power of love and the energetic magic of music to shift the world. She is a songwriter, vocalist, com­poser, and actress, and the founder of the band Shelley Nicole’s blaKbüshe, which has released three albums produced by Grammy winning Living Colour guitarist Vernon Reid. Her music is forged from rock, funk, and soul’s connective tissue, and empowers women to reclaim their cultural identity and personal agency. As a featured member of the Burnt Sugar Arkestra, Nicole has performed around the globe and graced a variety of stages including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Apollo Theater, Afro­punk, Son d’hiver, SF Jazz, and the Hammer Museum. In 2020, Nicole presented Punanny Politixxx: Hindsight is 2020 at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center to critical acclaim. She continues to play a key role in Nia O. Witherspoon’s Priestess of Twerk and is excited to return to Octavia E. Butler’s Parable of the Sower.
