Vienna Boys Choir
Strauss For Ever
Universally adored for its “pure and pristine sound” (San Francisco Chronicle), the legendary Vienna Boys Choir returns to Berkeley with a richly varied and lively program featuring music by Johann Strauss Jr., Haydn, Mozart, Offenbach, and Brahms, along with a selection of traditional American spirituals, beloved Broadway and film music, and much, much more!
Strauss was the grandfather of the Viennese waltz and polka styles that defined that city’s music for generations, and this group has been singing choral renditions of his work since the 1920s. The choristers honor his current 200th birthday celebration with classics like the Blue Danube waltz and the Tritsch Tratsch and Pizzicato polkas, all sung with spirit and finesse by these angelic young voices.
The November 16th performance is made possible in part by Beth DeAtley.
