"Do not lose track of this group: Even by today's high standards, it offers something very special."—The Boston Globe
That rare ensemble that comes along perhaps once in a generation, the Danish String Quartet has the power to make centuries-old music come alive with a modern sense of urgency and dynamism. The quartet made its Cal Performances debut in the 2013/14 season and quickly became an audience favorite—admired in Berkeley and beyond for finely wrought interpretations that balance precision and subtlety with youthful vigor. Here, they perform Beethoven's playful, congenial final quartet; an early quartet composed by Webern while he was still a student of Schoenberg; and the second of Haydn's influential Op. 20 quartets. "The group is in full artistic flower...this is one of the best quartets before the public today" (The Washington Post).
