Patron Information and the Greek Theatre

Recently named by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the top 10 amphitheaters in America, the William Randolph Hearst Greek Theatre (known to most simply as "The Greek") is a favorite performance venue of artists and audiences alike and is renowned for its intimate setting and spectacular views.

We hope the following information will properly introduce you to this well-loved venue order to make your experience as positive as possible:

Directions and Parking
Please see our Getting Here and Parking sections for all of the details on parking locations and drop off/loading zone information.

Your Seats

  • Seating at the Greek varies from the temporary folding seats set up in the pit area (premium seats) and lower Sections A-F to the stone bench seating in Sections 1-10 above. For a more comfortable experience, we encourage you to bring personal seat cushions (or a folded up blanket).

  • Seats in Sections 1-10 are accessible via a rather steep set of stone steps. We recommend wearing comfortable, flat shoes in order to navigate the stairs.
  • Lawn Seats: You are welcome to bring a small blanket or cushions for seating in the Lawn area. Please note that large or structured lawn chairs cannot be brought into the venue. Please see below for an additional list of what to bring...and what not to bring.

The Ticket Office
The Box Office at the Greek Theatre opens for sales and will call 90 minutes prior to show time. The venue box office is only open on the performance day and is located at the north entrance to the venue. The closest intersection for mapping purposes is Hearst Avenue and Gayley Road.

What to Wear
As the Greek is an outdoor venue and the Bay Area's weather is notoriously fickle, we recommend both bringing suntan lotion and wearing comfortable, layered clothing in order to weather our famous fog. (As well as the stone seats and short walk to the venue from parking locations.)

Food and Drink
Various food and beverage options will be available for purchase within the venue, including a selection of beer and wine.

While you can bring in your own picnic items, please limit the size of your feast to a small container as the area around your seat is limited. You will not be permitted to bring alcohol into the facility. The venue will open 90 minutes prior to the performance start time.

The Weather
Please note that this event is scheduled to go on rain or shine.
