Cal Performances’ 2023 Gala

Cal Performances’ Gala Co-Chairs, Gala Committee, and members of the Honorary and Host Committees look forward to a spectacular evening this Friday, March 17, 2023 with world-renowned artist William Kentridge.

William Kentridge has been hailed by the New York Times as “unusual—almost unique—among contemporary artists in having achieved as much acceptance in theaters and opera houses as in museums and contemporary art spaces.” Designed around the US Premiere of Kentridge’s SIBYL, the evening combines projection, performance, dance, choral music, jazz piano, and hand-painted backdrops in a wonderfully absurd, deeply touching, and visually stunning chamber opera and mesmerizing film.

All proceeds from the 2023 Gala will support Cal Performances’ mission to produce and present performances of the highest artistic quality, enhanced by programs that explore compelling intersections of education and the performing arts.
