Harold Payne
Harold Payne (guest artist) is a multi-platinum and Posi Award-winning songwriter whose soulful and uplifting songs and husky heartfelt vocals have graced stages around the world. He has written songs for such diverse artists as Rod Stewart, Patti LaBelle, the Temptations, and long time collaborator, Bobby Womack—a “who’s who” that ranges from Peter Paul and Mary to Snoop Dogg. Most recently, the band Rudimental topped the UK album charts with We the Generation, which includes the Womack/Payne song “New Day”; “Daylight” charted with Kelly Rowland and Travis McCoy; and the XL Recordings CD Bravest Man in the Universe, co-written by Payne, Bobby Womack, Damon Albarn (Gorillaz), and Richard Russell, received the prestigious “Q” Award in the UK for Best Album of the Year.
Although a major part of Payne’s career has involved songwriting, he has also maintained a busy performance schedule over several decades, averaging more than 200 dates per year. He has played just about every imaginable venue, from amphitheaters, festivals, and blues houses to corporate events, places of worship, and house concerts. Payne has opened for the likes of Van Morrison, Kenny Loggins, Heart, Emmylou Harris, Air Supply, and Hawaiian legend “Iz” (Israel Kamakawiwoʻole). He was also invited by Jimmy Webb and Paul Williams to perform their songs at various tribute concerts, and created songs for Regis Philbin, Al Pacino, and Bob Cavallo. Most recently, he created a one-man show Under the Radar Over the Moon.
