
Madiou Diouf
Madiou Diouf (Oakland, CA) is of Senegalese and Liberian ancestry. He grew up with a strong percussion background and was taught by his father, Dr. Zakarya Diouf, from a young age to play both djembe and sabar (traditional West African drums). Diouf has performed at many high-profile events, including the Olympics, the BET Awards, and Golden State Warriors games.
Diouf is also a digital music producer and serves as the sound engineer and music director for the Diamano Coura West African Dance Company. At Berkeley High School, he focused his studies on sound arts, and he continues to be an integral part of that school’s community due to his stellar talent, professionalism, creativity, and team spirit. Diouf is also a mentor in the Alliance for California Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program. This is his thirteenth year working with Berkeley/Oakland AileyCamp.
