Inside the Creative Process
Nov 13, 10–11:30am
Zellerbach Hall
Join Sō Percussion ensemble members for a look at the creative and rehearsal process they used to prepare for their Nov 12 performance. During this lecture demonstration, you will learn about Angélica Negrón’s approach to working with musical robots and creating new electronic sounds by reusing old recordings of her own pieces; about Nathalie Joachim’s approach to sampling her own voice for the electronic components of her work; and about Dan Trueman’s approach to reusing old video game technology to trigger samples of his own playing, tricking metronomes into being musically interesting, and transforming Bach’s well known Prelude in C major into a loud feedback choir played through the largest drum on stage. You will also have the chance to ask members of the ensemble your own questions during the Q&A. Attendance is open to the public and free with registration.
