Announcing a remarkable new streaming series created especially for Fall 2020!
Beginning in October, Cal Performances will continue doing what we do best—providing the high-quality, professionally produced performing arts experiences you love, but this time, all enjoyed from the comfort of your own home.
Featuring a wide variety of new and full-length videos or live events—all available to stream directly to your home screen—our Main Stage performances will feature artists and programs you were already looking forward to enjoying during our fall season, as well as a few new and exciting additions along the way! Main Stage videos will be accompanied by free “Beyond the Stage” artist talks; interviews; lectures; Q&A sessions with artists, Cal Performances staff, and UC Berkeley faculty; and more! Plus, special premiere-evening “watch parties” will allow you to enjoy the company of other performing arts lovers from the safety of your own home.
A new performance debuts each week, beginning Thursday, October 1.
More about the Performances
Our remarkable Main Stage performances have been commissioned (and often produced) directly by Cal Performances, and will feature recitalists, chamber ensembles, theater companies, and jazz artists who have recorded the same programs they had planned to present on our Berkeley stages this fall. Around the world, these exceptional artists have gathered in renowned venues and recording studios based in the locations where they are currently sheltering in place. Throughout the fall season, Cal Performances at Home will feature performances from New York, Chicago, and Philadelphia, Spain and Germany; filmed in venues including Merkin Concert Hall, the Curtis Institute of Music, the historic Louis Armstrong House in Queens, and the Bowery Ballroom in New York.
Cal Performances at Home invites you to continue celebrating the performing arts by joining together online for a series of unforgettable performances and related events—until, that is, we can all join together again, in person and under the same roof.
