Matthew Whitaker

Jazz prodigy Matthew Whitaker began touring internationally at age 11, playing a wide repertoire of straight-ahead jazz, hard bop, R&B, and Latin music. His 2019 recording, Now Hear This, was universally praised by the jazz press, and his compositions have recently been recognized with two Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composers awards. Whitaker makes his Cal Performances in-person debut performing on piano and Hammond B3 organ joined by Marcos Robinson on guitar, Karim Hutton on electric bass, and Isaiah Johnson on drums.
