Eco Ensemble

UC Berkeley’s acclaimed new-music ensemble in residence is praised for its nuanced and attentive interpretations of contemporary chamber music. Specialists of timbre and sound with a keen affinity for electroacoustic music, Eco Ensemble has performed works by luminaries such as Kaija Saariaho and Toshio Hosokawa in recent years, and often devotes its programs to new and recent work by faculty and alumni of the Music Department’s distinguished composition program. The ensemble is directed by faculty member David Milnes, who “never draws attention to himself, but the technical and musical excellence of his performances speaks volumes about his superb leadership” (San Francisco Classical Voice).
