The Living Earth Show
Credited by the New Yorker for “changing the playing field” in contemporary music, Luna Composition Lab—founded in 2016 by acclaimed composers Missy Mazzoli and Ellen Reid—is reshaping the future by mentoring a wide range of female, nonbinary, and/or gender-nonconforming composers ages 13 to 18. With LUNA LAB@10, the organization launches its most ambitious project yet: a 10th anniversary celebration featuring 75 world premieres by 50 alumni, commissioned and performed by leading ensembles across the United States and abroad. This special performance spotlights three of these world premieres alongside music by Mazzoli—the Grammy-nominated composer deemed “one of the more consistently inventive, surprising composers now working in New York” (The New York Times)—and Reid, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for her opera p r i s m (2019).
Program notes will be available approximately one week before the performance.
