Celebrate Día de los Muertos with Chicago’s rousing next-generation mariachi ensemble! Mariachi Herencia de México has taken the Latin music world by storm since it was founded 10 years ago by César Maldonado, then a member of the Mariachi Heritage Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes mariachi education in Chicago public schools. The band fuses traditional repertoire with influences from other Mexican, Caribbean, and Central and South American genres such as salsa, bolero, bossa nova, son jarocho, huapango, and cumbia—held together with deep emotion and bold storytelling. This is not your grandfather’s mariachi band!
Program notes will be available approximately one week before the performance.
